Equine Bodywork Sessions

Kat Markham offers an integrated equine bodywork practice. Being a Licensed Massage Therapist, specializing in neuromuscular massage, she has over 13 years of experience in the field of human massage therapy and has worked in several chiropractic offices, collaborating with doctors to alleviate tension in muscles and help the patients feel better in their own body. This, in combination with her love for horses, sent her down the path of becoming certified through the Masterson Method Program for Equine Bodywork. She incorporates many modalities into her practice such as myofascial release, cranial sacral techniques, passive stretching, and acupressure to help relieve muscular tension in the horse’s body. Bodywork also improves circulation, and enhances ROM, which reduces stress and anxiety and improves the horse’s overall physical and mental well being.

Equine PEMF Therapy

Our state-of-the-art PULSE PEMF machine uses low-frequency electromagnetic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. The PULSE patented waveform mimics the natural electromagnetic field of the earth. This waveform is designed to optimize cellular resonance and promote healing and regeneration. PEMF therapy has been proven to help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and accelerate tissue repair. It is particularly effective for treating conditions such as arthritis, tendinitis, and laminitis. PEMF therapy helps with acute injuries as well from muscular and tendon/ligament strains, sprains, and ruptures. It is an excellent compliment to the performance horse or one that is in recovery or rehabilitation from an injury. Having worked in the equine veterinary field, Kat Markham understands the value of supportive services in conjunction with traditional veterinary care. Want to try it out personally? We also offer PEMF to people as well!

Biomechanics Lessons and Training

Equine biomechanics is the study of the horse’s movement, anatomy, and physiology. When tension is found in the muscles of the horse in a bodywork session, this can be an indication of weakness in the body. Kat has years of experience in riding, training, and competing in several different disciplines, her biggest passion being dressage, in which the horse’s biomechanics are optimized through correct training and riding techniques to showcase the horse’s athleticism, suppleness, balance, and coordination. The biomechanics training program focuses on teaching riders and trainers how to better understand and utilize the biomechanics of the horse to improve their overall performance. By learning how to properly engage their horse’s muscles and optimize their movement, riders and trainers can achieve better results in competitions, prevent injuries, and ensure long-term health and well-being of the horse.

Disclaimer: Equine massage, bodywork, and/or PEMF is NEVER a substitute for veterinary care. If your equine is currently under the care of a veterinarian for recovery or treatment of illness or injury, the veterinarian must clear the equine for massage, bodywork, and/or PEMF therapy to ensure that it is appropriate for the equine prior to all appointments.
